High School football is inching closer to the end of the regular season and into the playoffs, and several Pennsylvania top 25 teams in the region were in action on Friday night as they look to lock up playoff seeding. 5th ranked Central Catholic, 8th ranked North Allegheny, 9th ranked Peters Township, 16th ranked Aliquippa, 21st ranked Thomas Jefferson, and 23rd ranked Canon-McMillan all played under the Friday night lights.
Central Catholic took their first loss of the season, losing a nail biter to Pine-Richland 27-19. Ultimately, Pine-Richland senior running back was too much for Central Catholic to handle, racking up a record 56 carries en route to three touchdowns and 287 yards.
The other schools in action mainly picked up relatively easy wins sans Thomas Jefferson who fell to Trinity 23-6. North Allegheny beat Mt. Lebanon 43-7, Peters Township defeated Moon Area 40-7, Aliquippa took care of Blackhawk 41-6, and Canon-McMillan beat Baldwin 30-14.
