Panthers Pounce to Victory in 24-16 Win Over Boston College

With little left to play for in the season besides pride, the Panthers picked up a big 24-16 victory over the Boston College Eagles. Though the team has been eliminated from bowl contention, the win was still a welcome result in the team’s last home game of the season.

With a change at quarterback, Nate Yarnell stepped up for the Panthers. He threw for 207 yards and scored two touchdowns – one throwing and one rushing. Wide receiver Bub Means was on the receiving end of the throwing touchdown, which came on a 66 yard play. The other major highlight of the day on offense was a 66 yard touchdown by Rodney Hammond Jr. that put the Panthers up eight with just over four minutes left in the game.

The Panthers’ defense showcased its prowess with key stops and turnovers, including a pivotal interception by senior defensive back M.J. Devonshire that ended the game. The victory was a good sendoff for a crop of seniors playing their final home game in a Panthers uniform.

Looking ahead, the Panthers are closing out the season on the road against the Duke Blue Devils. They’ll be looking to hand their conference foe their sixth loss of the season.
