The Pitt Panthers and Syracuse Orangemen met up for a matchup at Yankee Stadium. Ultimately, the Panthers suffered their eighth loss of the season, falling 28-13 to their conference foes. The team fell to 2-8 on the year.
The Panthers once again blew a first half lead, and the offensive and defensive schemes that were successful in the first half disappeared in the second. With two field goals and quarterback Christian Veilleux’s lone touchdown pass of the day, Pitt held a 13-7 lead at halftime. But things came undone coming out of the locker room as the team allowed 21 unanswered points to lose the game.
With just two games remaining and the team already eliminated from bowl eligibility, their primary focus is on building momentum for next season. They’ll play Boston College at home to close out their home campaign, before heading to Durham to play Duke in the season finale.
